DunCon

At the Intersection of Sense & Nonsense

@Lighthaven campus in Berkeley, CA
3pm Fri, March 28 - 10pm Sun, March 30

Half participant-led unconference, half Duncan-curated adventure. 2.5 days of rationality, intimacy, scheming, plotting, games, rants, rituals, tutorials, tomfoolery, and delightful sensory experiences.

Who:

You, perhaps! Also 50-150 cool people in Duncan’s extended social circle of rationalists, would-be worldsavers, writers, thinkers, circlers, artists, and makers (whether of mischief or otherwise).

What to expect:

How:

Why:

To mingle and meet with other Duncan-adjacent people. To present your ideas, and hear theirs—to learn, and show off, and be inspired. To play, to try new things, and to find partners-in-crime for bold, ambitious schemes. To step outside your comfort zone, and then immediately crawl back into it to process what the heck just happened (with snacks!). Part beach episode, part kick in the pants—a pit stop for mind, body, and soul, each no less than the others.

Planned activities include:
• Crash course in applied rationality
• A “phenomenological potluck” in which participants bring novel and esoteric experiences to share
• “Naked colloquium,” in which people present and discuss intellectual topics while unclothed
• Laser tag, board games, blindfolded intimacy games
• …and more! See
full schedule for detail (schedule is in progress and will continue to fill up).

WARNING: This event will include nonzero roughhousing and some amount of (nonsexual) nudity.

The base price for the weekend, including ~40 hours of awesomeness, 5 catered meals, and infinite snacks, is $325.

The venue also has shared dormitory rooms ($55/night and up) and nicer private rooms available for those wanting to sleep over.

Participants who are well-off are encouraged to purchase more expensive tickets, to help offset the cost for others needing financial aid and to send more support to Duncan and the venue.
